Forgotten Ancestors of Mighty Morphin

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is gonna release new movie in 2017. The most popular Power Rangers team has lived in every audiences' heart for many years.

However, how many people know that Mighty Morphin originally came from Japanese series, Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger. Well, I come from South East Asia, so I'm sure that most of the Indonesian don't know about Zyuranger, and none of the Singaporean knows what is Super Sentai. Singaporean calls Super Sentai is "Japanese Power Rangers."

Today, I'm gonna tell you what Indonesian supposedly think about Mighty Morphin:

MOST OF INDONESIAN THINKS THAT

MIGHTY MORPHIN IS ORIGINALLY MADE IN AMERICA

IN ASPIRATION OF GOGGLE-V

The reason is Goggle-V is a very popular Sentai series in Indonesia. It was aired within 1985-1986. However, most of the fans still remember the series. Unfortunately, they don't even know what is Zyuranger. And the conclusion is Mighty Morphin was based on Goggle-V. There are also some hypocritical Indonesian said that the information told Mighty Morphin came from Japan was a fake information in internet.

I think none of Singaporean knows what Zyuranger is, because English is an official language, so Singapore TV Station would air Power Rangers to save some time for dubbing. I'm not sure about the other South East Asia countries, but I'm sure Malaysian, Thai and Philippines know Sentai and really love them.

Zordon is racist?

David Fielding, who played Zordon for half of 1993 tells No Pink Spandex that the reason he was fired was due to his racism. Let's see how the problem occurs:

When Kyoryuger Brings Their Morphers to Airport

Kyoryuger brings a gun with them anywhere and anytime. They use the gun as a morpher for transforming when evil attacks people. They are Super Hero, right?

However, airport security doesn't admit it. When they go through the security gate, they will be caught:

Super Hero Peeing Problem

Spiderman was caught on video that he can't get out from his really tight full body battle suit when he need the loo. At last, he peed in his pants. Click this text to see the video

Superhero wear such as battle suit in order to protect their body in the battle. However, they face the problem when they need the loo. I also make an interview to the other Super hero using daydreaming:

Captain America: "I have the same problem like Spiderman. You see, I cover this part using my shield because I've peed in my pants."

The Hulk: "That's why I just wear a pants. It won't be a big deal when I need the loo."

Frozone: "I need to drink a lot of water before fighting. But don't worry, the water would be frozen immediately, so I don't need the loo."

In order to fix the problem, Japanese has created transforming technology for their hero. They just need to transform to get their battle suit when a battle occurs. In 1993, American has imported the technology for Power Rangers. Let's see how Jason Scott Lee demonstrates it:

How Far Super Sentai Series Go for 40 Years

Let's celebrate the 40th Super Sentai series. So, let's see how far Sentai series being improved in this 40 years....

Evolution 1, The first Super Sentai series: Goranger

Goranger is a common super hero series I think. They change their costume to fight. Then, they fight in a whole body cloth with a helmet and a long pluvial to show themselves is a super hero, that's all.

Evolution 2, The first Megazord: Battle Fever Robo in the 3rd Sentai, Battle Fever J

A new found of Super Sentai series, a humanoid battleship. It also begins a tradition to all Sentai series to fight a giant monster after fighting the normal size one. Therefore, Battle Fever is ever mentioned as the first Sentai.

Evolution 3, Combining Megazord: Sun Vulcan Robo in the 5th Sentai, Sun Vulcan

By having a combining robot, that means every rangers of the team should fight the enemy using their own battleship, and then combines as one performing a humanoid robot for final strike.

Evolution 4, First Spandex Heroes, the 8th Sentai: Bioman

The 7 Sentai series before Bioman use cotton material for their fighting suit. Bioman begins a legend of spandex hero. Spandex looks shining, the heroes look like in metal suit.

Evolution 5, First Duet Girls, the 8th Sentai: Bioman

Another new found of Bioman is having 2 girls in the team. Usually there is only a girl in pink, but Bioman begins the legend with yellow girl. Unfortunately, the first duet girl I meant should be replaced in some reason, while the actress of the first Yellow Four, Yuki Yajima resigned.

That's a good idea, because one girl seems lonely.

Evolution 6, The first time that everyone has his/her own battleship, the 11th Sentai: Maskman

Usually, there are only three battleships despite of 5 rangers. Red ranger has his own battleship, while the others should share the battleship to each other. However, Maskman begins to add more battleship, one ranger, one battleship.

Evolution 7, Code name accords to zord, the 12th Sentai: Liveman

The 5 members of Liveman has a code name according to their own zord, such as Red Falcon, Blue Dolphin etc. Actually, this kind of code name makes the zord to be useful, and they supposedly have the same strength to their zord.

Usually, the ranger makes his/her code name according to their color, so we can't see their feature clearly.

Evolution 8, The first dramatic character, the 15th Sentai: Jetman

Even the rangers or the villains seem to be dramatic in this series. It talks about love, friendship, revenge. The earlier Sentai has those topics too, but not too much. The writer of Jetman openly expresses love and hatred that not really suitable for a kid show. It lets Jetman opened a new era.

However, the later series use this kind of plot rarely.

Evolution 9, The sixth hero, the 16th Sentai: Zyuranger

The first sixth hero should be introduced in Maskman, but he only has 1 episode. So, Zyuranger is the first series introducing the 6th ranger. Unfortunately, the first 6th ranger treats his comrades as an enemy. However, everyone loves this topic, and it lets the later Sentai had the 6th hero.

Evolution 10, Structural Mecha design, the 16th Sentai: Zyuranger

I have to mention this, because the mecha before Zyuranger looks like a tin or supposedly a box. However, Daizyujin of Zyuranger's look seems to be more structural. It also brings a new era to design a robot for next generation.

Evolution 11, The first multi gattai Megazord, the 25th Sentai: Gaoranger

At the same time celebrating the 25th Sentai series, Gaoranger introduces a multi gattai mecha. Generally, every Sentai start to fight the enemy using only one Mecha for many episodes without any new weapons. But Gaoranger begins to introduce a Mecha that would let its arm changed with another zord to perform new weapon. However, it also causes the later Sentai team having a lot of mecha collection.

Evolution 12, New features of weapon, the 32nd Sentai: Go-onger

Go-onger begins to use an external device to charge their weapon for final strike. Usually, the final strike such as electric blast or bazooka charges itself. And it also causes the variation for the toy lines.

The later series continue to produce variation of weapon, such as samurai disc, gosei card, ranger key, dino battery and shuriken.

Introducing

Hello, guys. I am a fan of super hero series, especially Super Sentai and Power Rangers. I do love the series since 5 years old. Everyone said I would give up with them if I got older, but they were wrong. I continue to watch Sentai today, as long as the producer keeps producing a new series. Talking about Japanese and American culture, I would choose Super Sentai series after sushi, and Power Rangers after hamburger.

However, I live in the country where they air Sentai series after some years Japanese produces the series. The first Sentai I watch is Chikkyu Sentai Fiveman.
